| | | | | | Water Channel Experiment
It is often desirable to visualize the flow of water in a laboratory test channel. Open channel hydraulics allows the use of weirs, gates, etc. to aid in the measurement of channel discharge rates and other parameters. Flometrics can custom build a water channel/tunnel to your exact specifications. Shown below is a water channel custom built for the Engineering Fluids lab at San Diego State University.

The test section is ten feet long by 6 inches wide. It is capable of pumping 300 gallons per minute. Flometrics can design a channel for you with more or less capacity -- just give us your specifications! </TD></TR></TABLE> Flometrics will custom build a water channel experiment with the following features:
- Industrial polymer supply and return tanks for long lasting, corrosion free operation. Many sizes to choose from.
- Plate glass channel section allows visualization of flow and will not scratch test section like many Plexiglas channels.
- Pump, motor, open-loop motor controller, strainer, valves and all piping.
- Variable channel angle which can be changed while pumping water.
Hydraulic hand-actuated jack allows for on-the-fly angle changes.
- Sluice gate at channel output.
Optional Features:
- Complete set of weirs. Includes "V"-notch, broad-crested and rectangular notch (not shown) weirs.
- Water height measurement gauges. Useful for accurately measuring the channel depth up/down stream of a gate or weir.
- Electronic lift/drag measurement equipment. This strain gauge based measuring device allows users to measure lift and drag on various bodies and displays them via a digital display. Computer interface optional. Also, test/demo bodies such as sphere, flat plate, air foil, etc. available as an option.
- Dye injection apparatus -- single and multiple dye injectors allow for flow visualization of fluid streamlines.
- Closed-loop motor controller.
- Complete instructions/laboratory notes.
